I use this system to rate all the books I have read and reviewed on this blog:
***** I adored it, the characters and setting were extremely well-developed and it stayed with me for a long time afterwards.
**** Well-written, some characters were well-developed and I was drawn in enough to read quickly and be engrossed. Probably had a couple of aspects I did not like.
*** Easy to read and mostly well-written. Slightly boring in some parts, underdeveloped characterisation but worth reading anyway.
** Characters not really developed at all, writing not engaging or full of cheesy cliches, difficult to get through.
* A one-star rated book is usually because reading this book was, in my opinion, a waste of time, either due to the writing or the characters.
